Nostalgia

The sound of a distant thunder woke me up from my afternoon nap. I looked up and thought of rain. “The sky is unusually dark. It sure is going to rain” I said to myself. I continued travelling that lonely road. It was only me and my horse that afternoon on that lonely road to Manila. I was just thinking of selling my goods to Manila when the rain started to pour. I didn’t bother to stop. I already got my raincoat on anyway so why bother. My Horse, Silas is also going to get wet anyway so we prodded on. The rain was really pouring down when I saw her. She was standing there on the roadside standing under a mango tree trying her best to stay dry. I asked her if I can give her a ride on my carriage. I asked her not because I fancy her. I asked her because I need company on that lonely road. That’s how it all began, on that muddy road to Manila. I will never forget that day, January 18 1856. That was the first time we met.It was Centuries ago but I know I’m going to meet her again this century.

Mob Wars

How many of us dream of living dangerously? How many of us dream of owning our own hotel, restaurants and a boat? How many of us dream of rolling on money? Imagine the crisp dollar bills, or pesos or whatever currency your country has, stacked up as high as you. Imagine sleeping on a bed made out of money (not coins, that’ll hurt).
Ever since I joined Mob wars, I was hooked! I will look at the money I made that day and plan what to buy the next so that I’ll earn more money. My friend and I were talking one day, and we both said that we hope that the game is true, because we are making a ton of money every hour. We both sighed at the idea of owning tons of property and tons of money. We are in the middle of dreaming when she said that her character died. And like a bubble my dream of becoming a gangster tycoon burst and sent me reeling back to earth. I’ll stay grounded for now, but no one can take my alter ego Jestoni Alarconi from building his empire from dealing alcohol and robbing banks!

Break it down

Creak, creak, my car has been creaking for over a week now and it is annoying me like hell so I decided to bring it to the garage.  I asked the mechanic, Mang Rolly (a long time friend of my father that dates them way back from High School) to check what is wrong with my car.  I was suddenly scared when Mang Rolly said that my car has so many problems.  The cost of the spare parts and his fee started calculating in my brain.  I estimated that the whole shebang will cost me at around Php 5000 or less.  I’m a bit anxious that it might actually cost me more.  Mang Rolly told me with a confident voice that it will only cost me around Php300o for the spare parts. I breathed with a sigh of relief.

With a list of spare parts in hand, I immediately went to the surplus shop to buy what I need.  When I got there, the prices are off the ceiling!  (I was told it was because Christmas is coming that’s why they jacked up the prices).  I wouldn’t have bought the parts I need if I don’t really need my car.  In short, I shelled out Php5000 just for the parts and the services.  I’m pretty confident that I will be able to drive my car to work the next day with Php5000 worth of spare parts it’ll better be working.

I counted the chicks too early!  I still have to buy more parts and worst the service fee increased from Php800 to Php2000.  What a rip off!!!  As a helpless consumer with just a small knowledge on automotive, I gave in.  At the end of the day, it broke my wallet.  I spent more than half of my year end bonus on my car.  I swore that when I get the money, I’m going to buy a new car.  One that has a low gas mileage and one that will be able to bring me anywhere I want to go.

Hey Moon!

Easy listening.  One way to describe this song, Northern Downpour by Panic at The Disco.  I was never really a fan of the band but this song got to me.  I don’t really understand some of the lines in  the lyrics of this song like “I missed your skin when you were east” its too deep for me and can anybody explain to me what they mean by “weather vanes my one and lonely”?  What I love about this song is the TUNE!  It’s HYPNOTIC!  Makes me want to play it again and again.  It doesn’t make me feel down or suicidal but in some crazy way it moves me to be creative.  I have finished some sketches that I wanted to put down on paper for a long period of time while I’m listening to this song.  I was able to finish an action figure custom i’ve been dying to try out ever since I started customizing toys and most importantly (and to the joy of my mom) I was able to clean my room.  Whenever I listen to this song the tune it makes me feel relaxed but also rested that it makes me want to make things, but in some strange way it also makes me feel confused.

After listening to the song one afternoon while I’m driving along EDSA and the traffic is surprisingly light, the radio station that I’m listening to began playing the song.  I tried listening intently to the lyrics and VOILA!  That’s the reason why I feel confused everytime I listen to this song.  If you listen to the song, you’ll probably ask yourself, “What are they singing about,  are they singing about the moon?”.  I feel that there is deeper meaning to all this stuff that they wrote.  What do they want to get across?  I don’t know.  For me, they are talking about lost loves, how we should value things that we take for granted and life in general.  I give this two thumbs up.  Put this in your Ipod playlist.
