Up, up and away

lobo festWhooa! Last saturday, my sister and our friends went to Clark Pampanga to witness the Hot Air balloon festival. It was so tiring but it was so worth it. We got there at around 4:30 am and already there is a small crowd going on. We positioned ourselves near where the balloons are and I can see that I’ll have a comfortable view of the grounds. It pays off to be early. I sat there waiting for the balloons to fly and fill themselves with hot air and I can’t help it, next thing I know I was nodding off. We had such a blast when finally the balloons started to fly one by one and we took lots of pictures. What I like best are the sky diving exhibition. I felt very patriotic when the sky divers began their descent with a huge Philippine flag waving towards the ground. We all got goose bumps all over.clark-hotair

I heard some disturbung news yesterday.  2 of my former students got into trouble with the law.  It really hurts me to hear about what happened to them.  I also feel very sorry for the person who got involved with what they did.  At first, I didn’t believe that they can do something like that.  After searching for it on the net I found that its true.  I really hope that everything will be alright with them and I know that they have learned their lesson well.  I’m hoping for the best.  With this,  I pose this question to everyone, what factors may influence a person’s behavior?

Obama on Greatness

“Greatness is not given. It is earned.” This is one of the phrases that caught my attention while I was sleepily and dreamily watching the innauguration of President Barack H. Obama of the United States. It made me realize howmuch he must have suffered trying to earn that greatness that he now is. Being a minority he must have gone through a lot of needle holes. This did not stop him from reaching his goals and political ambition. He became an inspiration to me. Now that he’s in the office, he will have more challenges to face. He will have to prove his worth. Good luck Mr. President.

The River to the falls

The River to the falls

This is the river to the falls in Port Barton, Palawan.  The place is a paradise with lots of cheap sea food and great beaches.   You will have to wade along this river to get to the falls.  One should be careful for it is full of leaches!  One of the little blood suckers got stuck to my leg and we had to wait for it to become swollen to get it off.  It will leave a nasty mark on your skin.  Luckily it doesn’t hurt.

Rock on!  I really enjoyed this!  This is the Rockingest event in our school.  See Gene Simmons of the KISS?  I painted his face using some gouache and water to dilute the paint. Good thing that he’s not allergic to it.

Break it down

Creak, creak, my car has been creaking for over a week now and it is annoying me like hell so I decided to bring it to the garage.  I asked the mechanic, Mang Rolly (a long time friend of my father that dates them way back from High School) to check what is wrong with my car.  I was suddenly scared when Mang Rolly said that my car has so many problems.  The cost of the spare parts and his fee started calculating in my brain.  I estimated that the whole shebang will cost me at around Php 5000 or less.  I’m a bit anxious that it might actually cost me more.  Mang Rolly told me with a confident voice that it will only cost me around Php300o for the spare parts. I breathed with a sigh of relief.

With a list of spare parts in hand, I immediately went to the surplus shop to buy what I need.  When I got there, the prices are off the ceiling!  (I was told it was because Christmas is coming that’s why they jacked up the prices).  I wouldn’t have bought the parts I need if I don’t really need my car.  In short, I shelled out Php5000 just for the parts and the services.  I’m pretty confident that I will be able to drive my car to work the next day with Php5000 worth of spare parts it’ll better be working.

I counted the chicks too early!  I still have to buy more parts and worst the service fee increased from Php800 to Php2000.  What a rip off!!!  As a helpless consumer with just a small knowledge on automotive, I gave in.  At the end of the day, it broke my wallet.  I spent more than half of my year end bonus on my car.  I swore that when I get the money, I’m going to buy a new car.  One that has a low gas mileage and one that will be able to bring me anywhere I want to go.
